Investment markets and key developments over the past week The past week was mixed for share markets. While Australian shares rose 1.2% and eurozone shares rose 1%, US shares fell 0.1% as oil prices declined, Japanese shares lost 0.4% not helped by an underwhelming easing by the Bank of Japan and Chinese shares fell 0.7% on the back of the banking regulator increasing measures to reduce financial risks. Investment markets and key developments over the past week It's now four weeks since the Brexit panic on June 24 and since then US shares are up 7%, Eurozone shares are up 6%, UK shares are up 10%, Australian shares are up 7% and Japanese shares are up 11%. Investment markets and key developments over the past week It has been "risk on" again over the last week in investment markets helped by a combination of good economic data in the US and China, good US earnings news and firming expectations of more policy stimulus in Japan. HMRC Tax Relief Decision on UK Pension Transfers

For UK Pension Transfers (into Australian Superannuation Schemes with QROPS status as at 5 April 2015) made between 6 April 2015 to 30 June 2015 (inclusive), HMRC has now confirmed such transfers WILL NOT be subject to any UK tax charges in relation to the transfer.  For transfers made after 30 June 2015, no relief has been provided by HMRC in relation to any UK tax charges that may arise from the transfer. Weekly Market Update – 1st July 2016

Investment markets and key developments over the past week Share markets rebounded over the past week as worries about Brexit leading to global financial and economic chaos faded somewhat. US shares rose 5.1%, Eurozone shares gained 3.9%, Japanese shares rose 4.9%, Chinese shares rose 2.5% and the Australian share market gained 2.6%.
